Easy Access to ATHOZ: How to Create a Shortcut and What to Do If the Portal Won’t Open (Cookies & Quick Fix)

In this article, you’ll learn two key things to use ATHOZ easily and without complications:

  1. How to create a shortcut on your computer or phone to open ATHOZ with a single click.
  2. How to clear cookies and why that helps when a portal does not open, does not respond, or shows errors.

Why portals sometimes won’t open

Cookies are small files that store your session and preferences. Over time, they can become outdated or corrupted, causing portals to fail to load properly or display errors.

Common causes:

  • Old or corrupted cookies sending invalid credentials.
  • Conflicts between old and new cookies.
  • Malicious or tracking cookies interfering with security.
  • Old cache files blocking proper page loading.
  • Extensions or blockers interfering with the portal.
  • Network, DNS, or malware issues that redirect or block legitimate domains.

Security recommendations:

  • Before clearing cookies, make sure your passwords are saved.
  • If you manage multiple accounts (ads, banking, etc.), clear only the cookies for the affected site.
  • Use a password manager (e.g., 1Password or Bitwarden).
  • Never share credentials or verification codes.
  • Avoid public Wi-Fi when possible; use a private or mobile network.

1) Why creating a shortcut helps

  • Saves time: one click to enter ATHOZ.
  • Reduces errors: no need to type the URL manually.
  • “App mode”: if you choose “Open as window,” the portal behaves like an application.
  • Organization: you can pin the icon to your taskbar or home screen.

2) How to create an ATHOZ shortcut (step by step)

Use this example and replace it with your company’s URL if needed:
https://demo.athoz.io (replace “demo” with your company name)

A) Windows (Chrome / Edge)

Chrome:

  1. Open Chrome and go to your ATHOZ portal.
  2. Click the three dots (top right).
  3. More tools → Create shortcut…
  4. Name it (e.g., “ATHOZ”) and check “Open as window.”
  5. Click Create.
Result: an icon is created on the desktop; you can also pin it to the taskbar.

Edge:

  1. Open Edge and go to ATHOZ.
  2. Menu (…) → Apps → Install this site as an application.
  3. Name the app and click Install.
Result: it behaves like an app in Windows, and you can pin it.

B) macOS (Safari)

  1. Open Safari and go to ATHOZ.
  2. Drag the favicon (the icon next to the URL) or the URL itself to the desktop.
  3. A .webloc file will be created. You can drag it to the Dock (right side) for quick access.
(If you use Chrome on macOS, follow the Chrome steps shown for Windows: More tools → Create shortcut.)

C) Android (Chrome)

  1. Open Chrome and go to ATHOZ.
  2. Tap the three dots (top right).
  3. Select “Add to Home screen.”
  4. Rename if you wish and tap “Add.”
Result: you’ll see the ATHOZ icon on your home screen like an app.

D) iPhone / iPad (Safari)

  1. Open Safari and go to ATHOZ.
  2. Tap the Share button.
  3. Select “Add to Home Screen.”
  4. Name the shortcut (e.g., “ATHOZ”) and tap “Add.”

3) How to clear cookies when the portal won’t open

Tip: if the issue affects only one site, clear cookies for that site only, so you don’t sign out of everything else.

A) Chrome (Windows/macOS)

  • Clear all: Menu → Settings → Privacy and security → Clear browsing data → select “Cookies and other site data” → Clear.
  • Site-only: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies → See all cookies and site data → search “athoz” → Delete.

B) Firefox

Menu → Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Clear Data.
For a specific site: Manage Data… → search → Remove.

C) Safari (Mac)

Safari → Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data → search → Remove.
(Optional: Remove All to fully clear.)

D) Edge

Menu → Settings → Privacy → Clear browsing data → Cookies → Clear now.
For a specific site: Cookies and site permissions → View and clear site data.

E) Android (Chrome)

Menu → History → Clear browsing data → Cookies and site data → Clear data.

F) iPhone / iPad (Safari)

Settings → Safari → Clear History and Website Data.

4) If the portal still won’t open: quick checklist

  1. Try Incognito/Private mode.
  2. Disable extensions (VPN or ad blockers) and try again.
  3. Hard refresh:
    • Windows: Ctrl + F5
    • macOS: Cmd + Shift + R
  4. Try another browser.
  5. Check system date and time.
  6. Flush DNS:
    • Windows: ipconfig /flushdns
    • macOS: sudo dscacheutil -flushcache and sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder
  7. Restart the computer or modem.
  8. Contact support if the issue persists.
